Domestic violence is basis for lawsuits, Supreme Court finds

Canada’s top court has ruled intimate partner violence as a legal basis for pursuing civil damages.

The decision stems from a case involving a woman who was subjected to physical and emotional abuse by her husband throughout their 16 year marriage.

But as Global’s Jillian Piper reports, the ruling has wider implications and could pave the way for more survivors to seek justice.
