If US wants “less of what we have to offer,” other nations want more, Canada’s finance minister says
In a fireside chat in Moncton, N.B., on Tuesday, Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne said that Canada’s bilateral visit to India early this year was a success, claiming that Prime Minister Mark Carney and India’s Narendra Modi spoke for two hours.
“At some stage, the prime minister of India… he looks at us and he starts quoting the speech of Prime Minister Carney in Davos,” Champagne said.
Champagne said that this is the symbol that Canada represents, adding that the world “needs” what Canada has to offer.
“It reminds me that if our best friend south of the border, at some stage, decides that they want less of what we have to offer, you look around the world and you just realize that, well, there’s a lot of people who want what we have to offer and need what we have to offer,” the minister added.
